Imagine: your own personal driver picks you up every morning, and you settle into a roomy, comfortable seat. Enjoy an hour or so to read, snooze, or catch up on paperwork while thousands of others fight the traffic that has frustrated you for years. Quite a way to start the day!

Do you have to be a hoolywood celeb or royalty to live the dream?  No!  All it takes is joining one of the hundreds of vanpools already operating in Contra Costa county, or, even better, starting your own.  511 Contra Costa can help.

Getting Started

The Regional Rideshare Agency’s database of carpools and vanpools already on the road is an excellent starting point if you’re looking for a ride – just dial 511 on your phone for more info. If you are looking for available vanpools to join, or to start you own, the 511 Ridematch Tool is also available online.

Join a Vanpool, it Pays

We’d like to help you give vanpooling a try. As an incentive to get you started, when you join a vanpool we’ll pay half your costs for the first three months.*

Once you’ve joined a vanpool, print and mail us an application form within three months. We’ll then send you three reimbursement coupons, which need to be signed by both you and your vanpool driver.  Send the completed coupons to our San Ramon office to receive your reimbursement.

* To qualify, the vanpool must have a Contra Costa County origin or destination, and you cannot have been a member of a vanpool in the last six months. You may only participate in this program one time.
