Limericks

How do you write a limerick?
They have five lines. Line 1, 2 and 5 rhyme with each other and have the same meter (rhythm).
Lines 3 and 4 rhyme with each other and have the same meter (rhythm).
That’s it. Here are some examples.

There once was a family named Bates
Who loved to get out on their skates
Linking arms as they rolled
They’d skate until cold
Then return and sit munching on dates.

I once met a fellow named Gus
Who was crazy about riding the bus
He rode day and night
With no end in sight
But always without any fuss.

Hybrids are great at performing
When trying to stop global warming
They’re greener than most
And that isn’t a boast
It’s just being nice and informing.

Haikus

How do you write a Haiku?
Haikus have 17 syllables on three lines as follows:
Line #1 has 5 syllables, Line #2 has 7 syllables and Line #3 has 5 syllables.

Transit is going
without an automobile
to work, play or school

Together, riding
in comfort and harmony
It’s called Vanpooling

Errands are calling
run them together today
artful trip linking
