What: The first public outreach meeting for the Citywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan project

The City of Pleasant Hill is developing its first comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. The purpose of the plan is to:

  • Develop a network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities that will provide better access to transit, schools and shopping destinations
  • Develop policies to provide ample bike parking and other support systems for bicycling and walking in Pleasant Hill
  • Include recommended education and encouragement programs to help Pleasant Hill residents learn to bicycle and walk safely

What: BART to Livermore informational meeting
Where: City Council Chambers, 3375 Pacific Ave. Livermore, CA 94550

This Thursday, August 26th, there will be a public information meeting on the BART extension to Livermore. Interested attendants can speak with BART and city staff about the project, which aims to alleviate congestion on I-580 and improve air quality.

September 20 to October 1, 2010, 511 Contra Costa and the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority will offer free rides on LAVTA’s Route 70X for riders who commute on Interstate 680 between the Tri-Valley, Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill.

By participating in the 70X promotion, you can take a break from traffic and unwind during the commute and arrive at work or home relaxed and ready for a productive day or fun evening. And with direct service between the Dublin/Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill BART stations, you’ll help tackle traffic congestion, too!

To participate in the WHEELS 70X promotion, contact your Human Resource Manager or visit www.wheelsbus.com for a registration form. As an added incentive, we’re sponsoring a drawing for a free Apple iPod Nano for riders who complete a New Rider Survey and report their two-week trial experience.

The free two-week pass is valid on Route 70X only. If you need a transfer to other WHEELS’ buses or County Connection be sure to request one from the driver as you board the bus. Not valid on Dial-A-Ride Paratransit service. Free pass is sponsored by 511 Contra Costa and made possible with grants from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s Transportation Fund for Clean Air and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority’s 1⁄2 cent sales tax for Transportation Improvements Projects.

GreenFEST 2010 will be held at the Contra Costa Association of Realtors (CCAR) in Walnut Creek on Saturday, August 14th from 10 AM- 4 PM at:
