Looking to ride your bike but want some new ideas? We’ve got ‘em! Check out our list of cycling events which includes bike classes, social rides, group road rides, gran fondos, charity events and more!  Connect with local bicycle clubs and advocacy groups.

Want to up your game as a cyclist? Take a free class from Bike East Bay! Class topics include: urban cycling, theft prevention, adult learn-to-ride, family cycling, bike camping, and others. All classes are currently being taught online, except for Urban Cycling 101 – Day 2 and Adult Learn-to-Ride classes which feature in-person training.

Celebrate Bike Month

Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days 2024 - Thursday, May 16 - May is National Bike Month

There are lots of ways to celebrate Bike Month. You can earn chances to win a $200 gift card and other prizes in the Bay Area Bike Challenge. Test your knowledge of the rules of the road with our Road Safety Quiz and you might win a $20 Starbucks gift card. Family Cycling Workshop: Pleasanton

Date: May 19, 2024 10am-12:30pm
Location: Thomas S. Hart Middle School (4433 Willow Rd)
Join Bike East Bay's certified instructors for a day of fun games, safety drills, skills building, and a neighborhood ride. This workshop is for kids who are able to ride a bike and ready to take to the paths and roadways with their parents (suggested grade range 2nd-6th). The event includes instruction on: fitting a helmet, performing a bike safety check, communicating with other road users, riding in a straight line and avoiding obstacles, as well as navigating safely through intersections, all while playing fun games! Rich City Rides: Community Care Sunday Rides

Location: 1605 Ohio Avenue (Unity Park), Richmond
These family-friendly social rides are designed for riders of all ages, regardless of their level of expertise. If you cannot ride a bike for any reason, they have pedicabs. Rides include rest and play stops at local parks and public spaces. They loan bikes to anyone who needs one. Rides happen every first and fourth Sunday. Read more

Local Advisory Committees

Do you have a biking concern in your community? Several Contra Costa jurisdictions hold regular traffic safety meetings with citizen members, staff from the Transportation Department, and police personnel. Members of the public are welcome to attend public meetings, provide public comment, review agendas and meeting minutes, and apply for open positions.
